A variety of technologies are used in computer displays. Popular types include the cathode ray tube (CRT) and the liquid crystal display (LCD). The gas plasma (or gas discharge) and light-emitting diode (LED) displays are also available, but these are less popular because of clarity or other considerations. Smaller computers (|laptops|, |notebooks| and |palmtops|) typically have LCD displays because of power and size constraints. The larger |desktop| and |tower| systems generally use CRT displays.
